There are so many ways to hurt yourself in a woodshop. Paying attention to your surroundings, use common sense, and ask questions.
All PPE is located just inside the woodshop doors. We supply all necessary PPE, but you’re welcome to bring your own. No noise-cancelling headphones allowed.
Safety glasses are required in the woodshop at all times. Prescription glasses are acceptable for somethings in the woodshop, but if you or someone else is using a tool with a potential projectile (nail gun, router, grinder, etc.), you need to wear over-glasses eye protection.
Hearing protection is highly recommended in the woodshop. Even if you’re not working in the woodshop, it can get loud. We have ear plugs and over-ear protection as well.
Dust masks are highly recommended in the woodshop. If you find yourself coughing or sneezing because of the dust in the air, wear a mask and turn the air filter on.
Hair ties are highly recommended for people with long hair. Hair can get caught in equipment and power tools easily.
There are reusable gloves in the woodshop. Never use gloves when using tools. Gloves are good for hand sanding, carrying lumber, etc. but they are very dangerous to use when operating a saw.
Wear clothes that do not have dangles, strings, or long baggy sleeves in the woodshop. Any fabric can get caught in tools and become a safety hazard. Same goes for jewelry. Close-toed shoes required.
There is an eyewash station by the doors of the woodshop in case you get sawdust, etc. in your eye.
Fire Cabinet storage - Underneath the CNC, there is a flame storage cabinet holding wood finishes, stains, & chemicals. Please keep it closed when not in use.
Any oily rags from wood finishing need to be placed in the flame proof garbage bin next to the fire cabinet. Do not throw them in the general trash.
