IN THIS LESSON

  1. Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection when operating.

  2. Never wear gloves or long sleeves when operating. Secure any loose jewelry, long hair, hoodie strings, and other dangling objects.

  3. Turn on Dust Collection System.

  4. Do not cut steel or other hard metals with this saw. Do not cut anything other that wood on this saw. Do not use without Blade Guard or riving knife installed. Ask for assistance for changing the blade.

  5. Check for metal in wood with metal detector.

  6. Check for moisture content of the wood prior to cutting using our moister meter. Anything over 15% moisture cannot be cut on this saw.

  7. Locate emergency stop button prior to starting.

  8. Adjust angle of blade as needed. Only make adjustments when power is off and machine is not moving. Never touch the blade when the saw is powered on.

  9. Clear the work area of debris, obstructions, or tripping hazards. Ensure adequate lighting and ventilation. Make sure no one is in the way of the saw or standing directly behind it.

  10. Line up your cut and use push sticks and/or a featherboard. Verify it’s secure and against the fence. Verify you can hold your piece without putting your hands in the blade zone. Only cut one piece at a time. Do not cut pieces smaller than 8” long. Do not cut through wood knots, splits, or other defects. Verify that the fence is aligned parallel to the blade for accurate and safe cuts. Lock fence down before using saw.

  11. Only position featherboards behind the blade, never in line with or behind the blade.

  12. Use a sled for cross cuts. Do NOT cut cross cuts on the table saw without it. Doing so is extremely dangerous.

  13. Adjust the blade height to just clear the material being cut to minimize exposure and reduce the risk of injury.

  14. Stand in a stable position with feet shoulder-width apart while operating the table saw. Stand to the left of the blade.

  15. Allow motor to reach full speed before cutting. Do not start saw with material touching the blade.

  16. Cut slowly and smoothly, keeping your hands and sleeves away from blade at all times.

  17. Wait for the saw to stop moving completely and remove hand from trigger before removing material. Push material all the way through the full length of the blade before letting go of material.

  18. Turn saw off between cuts.

  19. Clear any debris or sawdust from the table after use.
