IN THIS LESSON

  1. Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection when operating. Never wear gloves or long sleeves when operating. Secure any loose jewelry, long hair, hoodie strings, and other dangling objects.

  2. Verify correct bit is installed based on the material you are cutting.

  3. Do not lose or misplace drill bit hex key.

  4. Verify material is secured down with a clamp. Never hold unclamped material when drilling, especially if it’s metal.

  5. Verify bit is lined up with a hole in the base plate. Do not try to drill through the base plate.

  6. Only drill one piece at a time. Do not cut pieces smaller than 3”. Do not drill through wood knots, splits, or other defects.

  7. When ready, grab handle firmly and allow motor to reach full speed before drilling.

  8. Drill slowly and smoothly, keeping your hands and sleeves away from bit at all times.

  9. Wait for the drill press to stop moving completely and remove hand from trigger before removing material.
