IN THIS LESSON

  1. Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection when operating.

  2. Avoid loose clothing, jewelry or anything that could get caught in the machine.

  3. Turn on Dust Collection System.

  4. Do not cut metal, MDF, or plywood with this planer.

  5. Examine wood for foreign objects and nails before planing. Remove any potential hazards.

  6. Do not use the planer for wood that is less than 1/4” thick.

  7. Keep hands away from cutterhead and inner mechanisms at all times.

  8. Feed material in straight. Do not force. Only feed one piece at a time. Do not cut pieces smaller than 12” long.

  9. Be aware of your surroundings and others when moving long pieces of wood back and forth through the planer.

  10. Maintain a firm and even pressure through the pass to prevent kickback. Do not stand directly behind the wood in case of kickback.

  11. Measure wood depth. Add 1/32”, and set height to that number. Feed wood through. Wood should barely touch the cutterhead if at all during the first pass. For the proceeding passes, lower cutterhead 1/64” at a time, or a quarter-turn.

  12. If wood binds up the planer. Turn off immediately. If fuse was blown, there is a fuse reset button next to the on/off switch. When blades have stopped moving, raise height to prevent further binding and to remove wood.

  13. Turn off machine when done.

  14. Clean up any wood shavings or dust that the dust collection system did not pick up. after use.
