Monoprice Voxel 3D Printer

Digital Fabrication

We call this printer our Toyota, because it never breaks down and hardly ever has print failures. It’s an FDM printer with a bed size of roughly a 6” cube. Use & Safety Checklist:

  1. Printing ABS creates toxic fumes. Do not use ABS with this machine.

  2. Verify door and top cover are closed before printing (for fumes, noise, and for best print results)

  3. Calibrate bed if prints are failing. Make sure printer is on a stable flat surface.

  4. Do not touch extruder while it’s operating. It’s hot.

  5. Verify plastic is loaded correctly.

  6. Remove any filament scraps prior to printing. Scraps may clog up the wheels of the machine.

  7. Use one layer of blue painters tape on the bed if prints are failing to adhere to the bed.

  8. Remove any filament scraps or other debris, unload filament, and turn off machine when finished.

Best PLA Settings:

Optimal settings vary based on filament type, 3d printer, humidity, temperature, etc., but these settings are a good starting point on this machine.

  1. Supports: Depends on print

  2. Raft: Depends on print, we usually don’t use it.

  3. Brim: Depends on print, we usually don’t use it.

  4. Resolution: 0.18mm

  5. First Layer Height: 0.27mm

  6. Shells: 2 perimeter, 3 top, 3 bottom

  7. Infill: Depends on strength of print desired. Hexagons infill is usually best. 15%-25% is usually fine. Higher than 25%, it’s usually more efficient to print at 100% infill.

  8. Print Speed: 62mm/s

  9. Travel Speed: 82mm/s

  10. Extruder Temperature: 212C

  11. Platform Temperature: 52C

  12. Cooling Fan: Always On
