Power Tools

Wood Shop

We have a huge collection of power tools at Breva Creative. Each of them have very specific operating instructions. This is a brief safety overview of all power tools, not each individual power tool. If you have specific operation or safety questions regarding a specific power tool, please ask a Breva Creative employee for assistance.

Use & Safety Checklist:

  1. Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection when operating.

  2. Avoid loose clothing, jewelry or anything that could get caught in the tools.

  3. Attach to Dust Collection System or shop vac if possible.

  4. Verify correct blade is installed based on the material you are cutting. Do not cut steel or other hard metals with most of these power tools. Verify blades rotate in the correct directions. Do not use without blade guards or other safety gear installed. Ask for assistance for changing blades.

  5. Only make adjustments to tool when power is off and machine is not moving. Never touch the blades when plugged in.

  6. When ready, grab handle firmly, pull trigger, and allow motor to reach full speed before cutting.

  7. Cut slowly and smoothly, keeping your hands and sleeves away from blades at all times. Keep your body to the side of the blade, and do not overreach when cutting. Maintain proper balance.

  8. Wait for the tool to stop moving completely and remove hand from trigger before removing material.

  9. Plug in batteries after use so that they remain charged. Put any tools away back where you found them when you are finished with them. Clean up any sawdust or metal shavings you made.
