Linocutting

We have access to an awesome collection of tools designed for linocutting. Ask for help before using.

Use & Safety Checklist:

  1. Always wear safety glasses when cutting.

  2. Change blades carefully to prevent injuries.

  3. Secure linoleum block to a stable surface using non-slip materials.

  4. Carve away from your body to avoid accidents.

  5. Transfer the design onto the linoleum block using a pencil or transfer paper. Ensure the design is reversed if text or specific orientation is crucial.

  6. Begin with shallow cuts and gradually increase depth to control process.

  7. Experiment with different gouges and blades to achieve varied line thicknesses and textures.

  8. Apply ink evenly to the carved linoleum surface using a brayer.

  9. Place paper carefully over the inked block, applying even pressure to transfer the design.

  10. Clean and put away tools when done.
