Pottery Wheels
Ceramic Studio
We have 4 pottery wheels. We have a variety of brands including Skutt, Brent, and ClayBoss. Each are slightly different and offer unique benefits.
Use & Safety Checklist:
Avoid loose clothing, jewelry or anything that could get caught in the machine. Tie up long hair.
Always work with wet or damp clay - dry clay dust is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
Do not plug or unplug cord with wet hands. Keep plug elevated and away from water.
Do not push or bear down on the wheel in a way that makes the motor louder or slow. This will damage the machine. Some of our wheels are stronger than others so be sure to use one appropriate to the amount of clay you are throwing.
Test pedal for speed control to ensure you know how quickly it accelerates, each wheel is different.
Use bats and bat mats. Do not throw directly on the metal wheel.
Never leave a spinning wheel unattended.
Always turn of power switch when done using wheels.
Always clean up your station when finished working or leaving for and extended period.
Entire machine should be wiped.
Put any slurry or trimmings into the reclaim bin or trash.
Rinse all tools, rags, sponges, wheel catch tray etc. in the “Clay Rinse” bucket before cleaning thoroughly in sink. Dry all tools before returning to where they belong.
Wipe or mop floor around your station and use “wet floor” sign as necessary.
