If you want super smooth prints, and you’re willing to work for it, resin printers are for you. They take more post-processing, trialing, and patience than FDM printers, but when done right, they can make some cool stuff like super smooth molds, jewelry casting, miniatures, and intricate details.

Use & Safety Checklist:

  1. Always wear safety glasses and nitrile gloves when handling resin.

  2. Operate in a well ventillated area.

  3. Immediately wash off resin that has come in contact with skin. Seek medical attention if necessary.

  4. Immediately wipe up any resin spills with a paper towel and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol.

  5. Store resin in a cool, dark place away from sunlight.

  6. Ensure the build platform is properly leveled before starting a print.

  7. Carefully pour the resin into the resin tank avoiding spills or overfilling.

  8. Double-check print settings before sending to printer (exposure, layer height, support, etc.)

  9. Use plastic scraper to scrape anything off of the tray bottom or to remove your prints. If your print is stuck to the metal plate, carefully without scraping the plate, use a metal scraper to pry it off.

  10. Follow any post-processing procedures for your resin such as rinsing in isopropyl alcohol, curing it under UV light, or rinsing off with water.

  11. Return leftover resin to container when finished using a paper funnel sieve. Do not leave resin in the tray. Clean up any spilt resin on the machine, counters, or elsewhere. place cover back on, and turn off machine when done.

Best Resin Settings:

Resin settings vary widely based on resin type, resin brand, 3d printer, temperature, humidity, and luck. These settings are a good starting point for standard UV resin.
